CLEAR CASES · A CONSTRUCTION DECISION

Clear Hard PC or Flexible TPU: Which Custom Case Should You Choose?

Choose by construction, not by the word clear. CasePop lists a rigid polycarbonate option and a flexible TPU option. Keep your phone model and artwork fixed, compare the actual selected option, and ask about any performance requirement that the published information does not verify.

Two clear options, two different constructions

A clear case can describe the appearance of several different products. It does not tell you whether the shell is rigid, whether an edge is flexible, or whether a magnetic ring is included. Start with the complete option name rather than treating every transparent-looking case as interchangeable. For this choice, compare Clear Hard Polycarbonate Case with Clear Flexible TPU Case in the CasePop phone DIY studio.

The current material list describes the first as hard polycarbonate, abbreviated PC, with a crystal-clear glossy finish. It describes the second as flexible thermoplastic polyurethane, abbreviated TPU, with a clear soft-gloss finish. These are the shop’s construction descriptions, not the results of a hands-on review. We have not measured either shell’s flexibility, weight, scratch resistance or protective performance for this guide.

Read the reference image together with its label

The material pictures in the two selector screenshots below are the references currently used by the CasePop studio. They help identify the options, but they do not show every supported phone model. The studio explicitly says camera cutouts and edge details vary by model. A reference photograph with one camera opening is not a fit promise for another phone, nor is its lighting a guarantee of the finished case’s appearance.

The PC listing describes a rigid shell with a smooth printable back and reinforced perimeter. The TPU listing describes a flexible case with raised corners and an open camera cutout. You can use those stated differences to frame your choice. Do not turn reinforced or raised into a drop-test rating: no tested height, certification or comparative protection result is established by these descriptions.

Choose one construction priority first

If your preference is a rigid clear construction, begin with the hard-PC option. If your preference is a flexible clear construction, begin with TPU. That is a practical way to narrow the choice without claiming one is universally better. A person who likes a rigid shell and a person who prefers flexibility may reasonably choose differently even when they upload the same photograph.

The current PC description associates it with detailed UV artwork; the TPU description mentions centered artwork and repeating prints. Treat those as studio suggestions, not a rule that your picture can only be printed on one option. The material label alone does not demonstrate that one produces sharper lines, brighter color or a better photograph. Ask the studio if your artwork has a specific production requirement.

Keep the exact model fixed while comparing

Select the exact phone model, then compare the two material options without switching to a different device. In our October 14 check, both options offered iPhone 16 Pro and the selected phone DIY price remained $35. This verifies that particular choice at that time; it is not a promise that every future model, option or price will remain available.

After changing the material, read the selected Case and Model entries again. Similar phone names are not evidence of interchangeable fit. If your exact model is missing from the chosen construction, stop and ask the studio rather than substituting a nearby name. The selector is the place to confirm an available pairing; a general article or material reference is not a replacement for that check.

Recheck the same artwork, not a new composition

Keep your original image file and use the same model, arrangement mode, scale and position when considering a different construction. Otherwise a new crop can distract you from the material decision. Recheck important faces, lettering and other details around the camera guide and outer edges. The live preview is an approximate placement aid; it is not a measured production cut line or a screen-to-print color proof.

Our selector screenshots below record a real choice between PC and TPU. They do not contain an uploaded photograph or show a print comparison, and no design was saved or ordered to make them. For your own artwork, use the studio’s existing upload and arrangement controls. Inspect the original at full size as well: a different case construction cannot recreate detail missing from the image.

Separate material facts from performance questions

Neither clear, glossy, PC nor TPU establishes an anti-yellowing guarantee, waterproof rating, tested drop height or charging certification. Those questions need evidence for the particular product and exact model. This guide does not supply that evidence. If any of those properties is essential to your purchase, ask for confirmation before ordering instead of inferring it from the option name or an attractive reference image.

A separate acrylic option in the studio shows a magnetic ring and has a different construction name. Do not silently substitute it for either of the two options discussed here, or use its description to make claims about them. Likewise, a ready-made catalog case and a photo-DIY case are different offers. Compare the selected service’s own facts rather than borrowing specifications from another design.

Make the final check in the live studio

At our check, the phone DIY offer was $35 for one custom case, with applicable tax included and free standard shipping to eligible U.S. addresses. The separate iPad and license-plate services should not be priced from this phone comparison. Read the live summary and linked policies before continuing, particularly if you changed the device or chose a different type of customization.

For a straightforward decision, confirm the construction, exact model, artwork placement and current total in that order. Keep the choice reversible until those checks agree. You do not need to order both to compare their published descriptions. If the remaining question is about physical feel or performance, contact the studio before purchase; a screenshot, preview or article cannot stand in for a verified physical sample.

Questions before you choose

Is flexible TPU better than hard PC?

Not universally. They describe different constructions. This guide verifies the current option descriptions, not a durability, comfort or print-quality winner.

Will either clear option show exactly the same color as my screen?

The material references and layout preview are not screen-to-print color proofs. Ask about a critical color requirement before ordering.

Can I change the material without checking the model again?

Recheck the selected model and design summary after every material change. Availability belongs to the exact pairing, not to the word clear.

Choose the construction you actually want
